Leeds Driver Ollie Wilkinson sealed his best career results so far, with back-to-back second place finishes in the Protyre Motorsport Ginetta GT5 Challenge in Zandvoort, Netherlands.

The 21 year-old secured his first podium of the weekend in lively fashion. Wilkinson capitalised on a driver’s mistake before fending off his rivals, after a rescue vehicle caused the cars to bunch up. He held onto a runners-up spot with an excellent last lap defence.

Leeds United fan Wilkinson’s second race was a more comforatble affair.

He made a strong start, slotting into second spot early on.

He was challenging at every opportunity for the lead, but a short safety car caution with three laps to go halted his progress and he grabbed his second runners-up place of the weekend.

On his podium finishes, Wilkinson said: “I’m absolutely buzzing to lie third in the championship after the best weekend of the year so far, I love this circuit!” He added: “Everything came together for me here. I had the pace to deliver the best results of my rookie year.”

Meanwhile, Garforth team United Autosoprts claimed first and second spots on the podium at the LMP3 Cup race at Silverstone. Matt Bell and Tony Wells drove great stints to claim the victory after a fast change-over.
