Captain Adam Reynolds returned to the starting line up and with Andrew Keegan and Wayne Butterfield also making their first appearances of the season in the forwards and this looked a comp-etitive side for their first 2nd team league game.

Cleckheaton were showing flashes of skill and good handling especially impressive was the close controlled kicking from which they managed to re-gather possession on a number of occasions.
Yarnbury's dominance continued with strong attacking running and good fending notably from Butterfield and Steve Mather both pushing would be tacklers to the ground on numerous occasions. Mather himself making it over the tryline on one occasion only to be help up before grounding the ball.
Then left winger Russell Gomersall was denied at the last moment by the opposition full back taking it away from his finger tips.Yarnbury then wasted a try scoring opportunity down the right with a forward pass and a three man overlap.
Smart work on the ground by the Yarnbury tight five was becoming a feature of the game, the front row of Tom Whitfield, Captain Reynolds and Rob Bristow must be commended as Cleckheaton struggled to get any sustained periods of possession.Yarnbury then took the lead with a penalty conversion from stand off Phil Davies.
From the restart Cleckheaton did indeed get the bit between their teeth and the pendulum swung their way. A couple of line breaks were made but as Steve Foster and Edddie Van Heel in the centre started to hit hard in the tackles the point of attack moved to around the fringes. This led to Cleckheaton crossing the line for the first time, but like Yarnbury earlier in the half, a five metre scrum was all the reward they got after being held up.
The home side were now creaking and cracks started to open in the defence. A loose ball was collected by one of the Cleckheaton props and he showed a shocking turn of pace to outflank the covering defence and score the first try of the game. The conversion was good and Cleckheaton had hit the front 3-7.
The second half began with both sides very much still in the game. The second 40 minutes turned out to be a story of two sides that very much cancelled each other out. Yarnbury did give time to all three of their substitutes, Nathan Benton on debut, Ryan Meade and Alex Clark but none could make the telling intervention to win the game, the only scores of the second half being another penalty to Phil Davies and cancelled out by Cleckheaton.
