Match report: Calverley United U-9s Yellows v Horsforth Mustangs U-9s
A spectacular hat-trick from Harris Thompson set Calverley United U-9s up for another important league double, this time over Horsforth Mustangs.
Thompson's treble, the first two of which came from dipping strikes from outside the penalty area, put the Blues on course for a 5-1 win at Horsforth.

The Yellows then carried on the good work, winning 4-2 to continue their push for the title.
It took Calverley some time to make their superior teamwork pay in the opening game but when the dam broke it did so spectacularly with two goals inside a minute.

Thompson's sliced shot from the right wing opened their account and then after approach work by Lewis Waddington, Danny Taylor tucked in the second from close range.
A 2-0 half time lead did not guarantee the points with the slope to contend with after the break but Thompson's next crowd-pleaser gave them the breathing space to relax and play some excellent football.

Max Weir poached the fourth at the far post and although Thomas Paylor pulled one back for the Mustangs, Thompson nailed his hat-trick after a fine run down the left by Taylor.
Calverley, who had been denied a confident penalty shout before the break, could even afford to miss a late spot-kick when the goalkeeper saved well from Waddington.
Tommy Reynolds proved to be the thorn in Horsforth's side in the second match, scoring one crisp goal and forcing another own goal through his mesmerising work down the left. Owen Bailey had already put Calverley 1-0 up in the first half from Chris Brown's cross when Reynolds' cross was inadvertently turned into his own net by a Horsforth defender.
A goal direct from a corner brought saw Mustangs rally only for Reynolds' trusty left boot to restore the two-goal advantage.
Horsforth would not lie down and grabbed another goal back before the arch-poacher Bailey netted from close-range to sew up the 4-2 win.
