Calverley United U-9s Yellows enjoyed a comprehensive 3-0 league win.

Calverley United U-9s Yellows 3

Gomersal Gladiators U-9s 0

This was a match to test the attitude and team spirit of the boys following their disappointing defeat last week.

But Calverley have not suffered back to back defeats so went into this game hoping to avoid this and keep their title challange mathamatically, at least ,alive.

Calverley started off brightly with some nice movement and passes and it was not long before their possession was made to count.

A fine run down the line from George Taylor resulted in a shot come cross that the keeper could not hold palming the ball into the path of Owen " the poacher" Bailey to score. Calverley continued attacking and soon scored again.

Owen Bailey this time crossing on for George Taylor to head home with a powerful header leaving the keeper no chance.

What few chances the Gladiators had were met with some solid defending from Harrison Marcus and Ben Storr who were both excellent throughout.

Straight after the kick off of the second half Thomas Reynolds hit a great ball over the defence for Owen to run onto and cooly side foot the ball pass the keeper. Calverley were shortly awarded a penalty which Chrissy Brown took shooting straight at the keeper.

Despite Owen Bailey having several chances to complete his hat trick he was denied by some brilliant keeping.

This was a good win with the boys getting staight back to winning ways demonstrating a great attitude and team spirit.
