Match report: Calverley United U-8s v Bingley Juniors U-8s
Calverley kept their hopes of runners-up spot alive in the Keybury League thanks to two second half goals from Lewis Waddington.
Calverley United U-8s Blues 2
Bingley Juniors U-8s 0
They looked to have their work cut out after being held 0-0 after enjoying the advantage of a strong wind in the first period but Waddington's brace into the elements, when their passing game was at its best, gave them a deserved win against a solid Bingley side.
They were both beautifully crafted team affairs. Goal number one came after Louis Squires freed up Danny Taylor and his diagonal ball was taken first time by Harris Thompson whose fizzing shot was parried by the keeper straight into the path of Waddington who reacted quickly to head home.
Squires and Taylor were both involved in the build-up to number two which was again smartly finished by the predatory Waddington.
It was far from one-way traffic but with Harry Davis in commanding form at the back and Matthew Hodges a reliable presence in goal, there was no way back for Bingley.
