Match report: Sheffield Wednesday v Huddersfield Town

Exquisite finishes from Graham Carey and Anthony Pilkington confirmed Huddersfield Town's League One promotion credentials with a classy 2-0 derby win at Sheffield Wednesday.

Scot Carey struck a delightful left-footed free-kick on 23 minutes, before goal-hungry Pilkington netted his seventh goal in six games with a delicious curler 11 minutes later following a riproaring Town raid.

Town, with Joey Gudjonsson outstanding, handed the Owls a footballing lesson in the first period, with Jordan Rhodes – son of Wednesday goalkeeping coach Andy – twice going close .

The striker fired a fierce angled shot against the woodwork and steered a shot just wide before the break as Town made light of the rain-hit conditions.

Town brought on teen striker Benik Afobe – signed on a month's loan from Arsenal hours before kick-off – for his debut in the 64th minute as they easily held on .

On-song Omar Daley scored a 30th-minute winner from the penalty spot as Bradford City claimind an outstanding 1-0 win over promotion-chasing Bury in League Two.
