The early pattern of the game continued and on 15 minutes Selby got their first try of the game.

Yarnbury fly half and captain for the day Phil Davies kicking well to relieve pressure but on recovering the ball Selby moved the ball quickly to the left scoring in the corner. 8-0.

Yarnbury came out battling and were to be rewarded themselves after putting together a good 5 minutes of pressure. After creating a couple of opportunities Tom Whitfield linked well with Yarnbury's Australian recruit Ryan Stokes to score wide out left.

Phil Davies adding the extras. 8-7.

Yarnbury continued their attacking intent with the returning Steven Mather handling well in the midfield and Eddie Van Heel probing and testing the Selby midfield.

With 10 minutes of the half remaining the unfortunate Simon Gammon received an injury to his right shoulder and had to be replaced by Yarnbury's only substitute Rob Bristow.

Yarnbury's best spell of the match came mid way through the second half.

Mayers and Rob Clabby making good progress around the ruck area and the front 5 showing good control and organisation. The line out was also operating well with Ben Davison and the evergreen Leggy regularly taking ball off the top and delivering good quality to scrum half Tom Bowman. Yanrnburys second try was to come in this period with Steve Mather timing his pass brilliantly to put the tricky Van Heel through a gap.

He still had a lot to do but beat what seemed like most of the Selby team before scoring under the sticks. Phil Davies didn't manage to convert. 20-12.

Selby added three more tries before the final whistle as Yarnbury started to fall off tackles and allow Selby time with the ball in hand in the attacking third of the field.

Yarnbury's never say die attitude was characterised when Russel Gommersall charged hard and managed to get his hands to one of the attempted conversions saving two points. Final score 39-12.

Yarnbury will be stronger next week with more players back to start their season.
