Match report: Leeds United v Wolverhampton Wanderers

Leeds United ended their pre-season campaign in impressive fashion as two second-half goals sealed a 3-1 victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers at Elland Road.

United outclassed their Premier League opponents throughout the Yorkshire club's sixth and final summer friendly, and the result sent Simon Grayson's squad into the new Championship term in a hopeful frame of mind.

Leeds were the dominant side for long periods, and Bradley Johnson and Luciano Becchio should both have scored with free headers during the first half.

Max Gradel eventually broke the deadlock with a fine effort from outside the box which found the top corner of Wolves' net on 36 minutes, but the visitors equalised against the run of play when Matt Jarvis' free-kick missed everyone and bounced past Kasper Schmeichel.

Leeds, however, regained their advantage at the start of the second half when Lloyd Sam turned home Gradel's cut-back from close range, and Johnson's header four minutes from time secured the victory.
