Match report: Leeds United Ladies v Leeds City Vixens
Leeds United Ladies shrugged off the challenge of cross-city neighbours Leeds City Vixens to cement their place at the top of their group in the Women's Premier League Cup.
United grabbed goals through Carey Huegett, Jade Pennock and Hayley Sharp in the Group Seven clash, while Taneesha Watson-Phillips netted a consolation for the Vixens as United avenged their 4-1 defeat in the Women's County Cup Final last season.
United took the lead on three minutes when Huegett out-muscled the Vixens defence to fire past Carina Fuller.
They then took the game by the scruff of the neck just before half- time as Pennock's determined run down the Vixens left took her past Camille Clarke before she fired across Fuller, low into the bottom corner to make it 2-0.
The goal of the game came in the second half when Sharp lobbed Fuller from a good 25 yards to put the result beyond doubt.
United continued to push but the Vixens grabbed a deserved consolation through Watson-Phillips, who combined well with Sarah Dobby before slotting the ball home.
