Into the elements they defended well in the first half restricting The Salem side to two tries scored by right wing Chris Savva and one for Centre Jonathan Davies ex Wharfedale centre with the latter kicking a penalty.

Yarnbury's pack worked extremely hard to compete with the bigger Salem forwards with back rows Joe Mills and James Daffern into every ruck and maul and Adam Pike at prop working hard throughout.

Yarnbury got their reward into the breeze in the second half with an interception from right winger Simon Threlfall scampering 60 metres in a chase to the line.

Salem replied with a try by their back row to make it 18-5 to the home side and managed a further converted try in the fourth minute of added on time to seal their victory which was deserved but the Yarnbury squad system did the club proud in the circumstances.
