Thursday, February 9, 2012 at 01:19 AMIL ...A nice thought but I fear any change will be short lived and the disruption that follows the calm will be worse than before. There will be the same number playing therefore the same number dissaffected because they aren't and NRs authority will be weak due to the tenuousness of his position. As is proven in many countries that see a revolution, and Egypt is the latest example, the strength of the governments position is what makes stabillity within the country and any weakness is seen as a vacuum which is filled by dissident elements making the governments position untenable..

Wednesday, February 8, 2012 at 03:52 PMKoppite in many ways I agree, sadly in a results based business at a high expectation club the comparison with competitors like Norwich,Swansea and Southampton inevitably draws some criticism from the impatient punters.Oddly enough I would rather see slow but sure improvement rather than throw caution to the wind.I would have given SG till the season ends. On the other hand a club with more fringe players than regulars inevitably leads to training ground difficulties with the excluded players venting frustration and discontent. The managerial change will afford many a second chance which should change the dynamic at TA and improve performances at ER which is what everyone (even AO'B) wants .Thank you for your thoughts. MOT!

Wednesday, February 8, 2012 at 03:24 PMOriginal koppite I'm not disputing SGs point record or the fact he has done a decent job over the last 3 years. All I'm saying is the numbers I have been presented with so far dont make much sense. Surely you dont dispute we have a larger than average squad and seemingly the only reason for this was he got it wrong on too many occasions and has been unable to offload since? I'm just trying to give a balanced view here. Anyway I thought you were pro "Pappa"??

Wednesday, February 8, 2012 at 01:45 PMWhat a ludicrous article - just a desperate attempt to continue stoking the ire of the fans. Aside from that - 'Who is to blame....?' Blame? Blame? We're two points from the play-offs! The question could just as easily have read: 'Who is to be credited for getting us within two points of the play-offs as the season enters its final phase?'

Wednesday, February 8, 2012 at 11:42 AMIL ..You have watched the game long enough to know the history of the game is littered with players who leave a club and do better at the next the reasons for which are many and varied which is why the signing of players is fraught with danger. The bottom line is like a balance sheet where the only question to answer is are you in profit and we have got sufficient right to ensure that we are in front with many players proving to be worth more than we paid for them, at the same time we have improved year on year and, but for the numpties provoking Pappa to get rid of SG, there are many signs to give hope that the progress would have continued. What will happen now is anyones guess but the prognosis is not as good as it was a couple of weeks ago.

Wednesday, February 8, 2012 at 10:26 AMCan all 15 thousand people that voted please join the Leeds United Supporters Trust (LUST). It is free to join and they are making there voice heard. http:lufctrust.squarespace.com This is the only path i can see working for a KB exit, however i would like to see LUST membership represent the true Leeds fan base (Circa 200K, not the 2.5K that are signed up).

Wednesday, February 8, 2012 at 10:03 AMI have never blamed SG but he shares the responsibility. The turnover in playing personnel is puzzling for an old fool like me.The question of why a host of SG's players failed to perform adequately for us but prospered elsewhere is a fair one.Schmeichel,Connolly,Bessone,McCartney,Bromby,O'Brien,Watt,Kilkenny,Johnson,Sam,Nunez,Livermore,Bannan,Paynter & Forssell have made significantly better contributions away from our club so this foolish fan wonders why ? Wednesday, February 8, 2012 at 09:43 AMoriginal koppite(69). great comments and it sums everything up totally. guys like gibson and nigel doughty(rip) have poured vast sums of their own money into the clubs they loved which i am sure we would all do if the circumstances ever arose. their returns in terms of success minimal. its all about money today and with the future uncertain is it a good folly to go back to the old ways and pile up debts to buy success. i don't think so. we nearly went out of business didn't we. the gulf between the PL and championship is great but at least sides like swansea and norwich are doing well at the moment. the play-offs are possible this year so all is not lost yet.

Wednesday, February 8, 2012 at 09:37 AMI honestly think that YEP have to shape up when it comes to matters at LUFC. How on earth can they set in a web poll question like this ?? In the LUFC situation now I must say the the local news paper of Leeds is not doing the job they should. Are they sceared to write critical on the whole situation ? There are so mmany questions reg our great club not answered and as far as I know not even asked. I would think this situation would be food for a newspaper, do some digging and ask the hard questions !!

Wednesday, February 8, 2012 at 09:26 AMThe whole club is a shambles - aided by the local media which Bates has, somehow, managed to scarebully into submission. I am getting brassed of with the new manager situation. I have paid my money for a season ticket starting in 7 months time. Since then the manager has been booted out - fine - but only if there's going to be someone better in place!! If 'the Beard' thinks anyone will be happy with a caretakerinexperienced Manager on the cheap then he is just winding us all up - and doing a great job of it. The sad fact is that we are powerless without the local radiopress - Aidy White will still only be offered an £800 per week new contract, the priority will still be funding the new facilities by player sales, the Club wont get back the ownership of Elland Road and Thorp Arch and we will remain in the Championship - where Bates believes we belong! It could all be reversed so easily - Billy Davies appointed, White, Snoddy, McCormack, Clayton etc new contracts etc! But it wont happen as long as the Chairman is more interested in his facilities and giving us grief!

Wednesday, February 8, 2012 at 09:23 AMoriginal koppite - You miss the point every time, Bates doesn't even have to invest vast sums of his "own" money, if he simply invested a little more of "our" money in the football TEAM, things would be a lot better instantly. I can't tell you the exact figures off the top of my head, but 30% of turnover as a budget for salaries and transfers is ridiculous. What you fail to take into account in almost all of your comments, is the "other" 70%.

Wednesday, February 8, 2012 at 09:02 AMI really fail to comprehend the obsession with Pappa amongst fans of LUFC. If you read Nigel Doughtys obituary in the Guardian you'll see the enormity and futility of a rich man funding a football club. Over the last ten years Doughty, who tragically died last Saturday, committed circa £100m to the Florests and they are worse off than us, it's enough to break anyones heart and you could say the same about Steve Gibson up at Mboro who over twenty years has spent double that and given years of his life and got a League Cup win to show for it. It's likely that Pappa doesn't have the sort of money that these two fanatical fans of their clubs have but if he had why should he throw it into the bottomless pit that is football economics and if he did what would we have to show for it. We have a club and that is courtessy of Pappa, it is doing ok, we are recovering from bankruptcy and competing in a market vastly slanted to PL clubs who's owners have put £200m into their clubs for the priviledge of struggling against relegation so why would we want to join that madhouse. If someone had a few hundred millions to throw away I think we could find better use for it than giving it to the Carlos Tevez' of this world.
