Simon Grayson sacked: Warnock’s the rightful Leeds United favourite - Matteo
Dominic Matteo.
Simon Grayson is no longer Leeds United manager and talk has switched to his successor and obviously Neil Warnock is the favourite and it’s easy to see why.
Looking at it, he’s the one man who knows how to get a team out of this division into the Premier League.
He’s done it on numerous occasions, is vastly experienced and his track record speaks for itself and he’s definitely the no.1 contender for me.
Of the other possible contenders, you’ve also got a lot of good young managers linked as well and people are talking about the likes of Lee Clark, Roberto di Matteo and Karl Robinson.

Personally, I do think it’s important the board takes a little bit of time, but invariably they quickly want a manager in place and the players do need to know who the boss is.
Ideally, I think if you are going to make a managerial change, it’s always good to give a month for the new manager to maybe in bring in his own ideas and players in, like with Mark Hughes at QPR.
Someone will now come in with the window closed and it’s a strange one in that aspect.
Defeat
But I think after the Birmingham game, the board probably thought a 4-1 defeat at home was just such a poor result and that it was the right time to do it.
The performance itself actually wasn’t that bad, but unfortunately it was schoolboy mistakes which cost us again.
Even though the players got a few good results last month, let’s face it, the team weren’t playing well and there seemed to be no continuity between the players. It seemed like they were all going out playing on their own. For a Simon Grayson team, it was never usually like that and we got used to them always bouncing back from bad results with a good performance or two.
There were a lot of rumours going around the ground after the Birmingham game about Simon’s future and while nothing was said to me, it was clear things were getting talked about. And the rumours proved true, which was obviously disappointing.
I wish Simon well. He’s a good guy who did a good job and people have got to remember that. He gave three years of good service, is a Leeds fan at heart and gave his absolute everything.
I think his win ratio was the best of all Leeds managers of all time apparently and he can walk away with his head held high.
He brought some good times back to the club and got them promoted and having spoken to him a few times, I really believed he thought he could get us to the Premier League this year as the league isn’t all that strong and we’re still not that far from the play-offs.
It’s disappointing to see him go, but the club obviously felt it was time for a change. Maybe it was time for a change for him as well and I’m sure there will be a lot of clubs looking at him, in time, as well. He’s still a young manager and he’ll dust himself down, have a bit of time off and maybe have a holiday or something and then want to get back into it as he’s a football guy.

Sunday, February 5, 2012 at 11:54 PMjust a point to those who sing warnocks praises a qoute of his The lovely Neil Warnock on 2007 relegation: "As a proud Yorkshireman, I'll be among the first to offer [Nasty] Leeds my commiserations. Well, I will as soon as I can stop laughing, anyway

Friday, February 3, 2012 at 08:57 AMDog, I don't worry which league we are in because I'm a supporter not a pot hunter. You should try it sometime! Another thing you might try is getting together with bramley white and pool your brain cells. With 2 brain cells you might spell one or two words correctly. Your posts still won't make sense of course but at least people will be able to read them without reference to an anagram solver. There are worse things happen at sea but the sacking of SG will set the club back as much as the appointment of PP and Manny Cousins not appointing JG to succeed The Don. At that time we were bigger than the Scousers and had the potential to be bigger than Manyoo and we never recovered from that.

Friday, February 3, 2012 at 02:30 AMNoone appears to have investigated why Warnock was sacked as QPR manager... We was tactically inept according to their fans! In one game, even one of the players was shouting at him to change it around as they were so under the kosh at the back.. He didnt and the opposition scored whilst Warnock spent all his time and energy arguing with the 4th official.. He may be a good man manager and give the boys a kick up the rear that they need but its going back to the old school..is that what you all really want..??

Thursday, February 2, 2012 at 08:16 PMErr, Gingerstreak, I bet KB isn't on his sunlounger in Monaco tonight. It's -2c there at the moment. Colder than here. If we want to get promoted then it's got to be Warnock. Even if he can't cut it at Premier League level we know he can certainly get us there. I certainly don't want that Mussolini loving Di Canio anywhere near our club and I think he'd be useless anyway.

Thursday, February 2, 2012 at 06:50 PM31Adolf Hitler re; your question about fighting it out in the prem' league.- as you put it. thats Question is worse than the YEP last night asking if leeds united fans were happy with the loan signings so far.anyway it doesnt matter to you what league we are in does it ? seeing as your knitting classes (or is it flower arranging classes) are every saturday at 3.00pm so why would you worry - if you DONT GO TO ANY LEEDS MATCHES - best stick to yer' knitting and leave the supporting to the leeds supporters who attend matches - get my drift? MOT 4 EVA WHEREVER WHENEVER WHATEVER!!

Thursday, February 2, 2012 at 05:24 PMAlternatively for those not living in LA LA Land Billy Davis has been there and done it at Derby which leads me to ask do people really want to join the small amount of clubs in the PL who fight it out annually to see which one of them is going to avoid relegation?

Thursday, February 2, 2012 at 04:13 PMCan just see the wish list left on KB's sun lounger now..... DiMatteo, Wise, Gullet, Vialli, Zola, Poyet, ... In fact any players that have worn BLUE in the last twenty years - I bet even Kerry Dixon's name is scribbled on the corner !!! The long and short of it is that Bates will NOT go for a manager with a Mind of their own (And Warnock certainly ticks that box) - And especially when he seems to the choice of 23rds of fans... I for one have to own up to a peverse sense of excitement...... Maybe it's the fact i am clutching onto the vain hope that KB does actually want promotion this year (contrary to the rumours about administration repayments) and will finally do the right thing by the club, and employ a manager who might just deliver it.... One choice for me - Jones, no, not Dave - The 'VINNY' variety.. Listened to an interview recently where he maintained that the Leeds job was the only thing that would bring him back into Football, Now before you all slate me..... Just think about it... Every player would give 200%,(the look would be enough) nobody would mess with him, and his half time talks would be legendary - Especially if we were losing (And playing badly)... and a sure fire guarantee of filling the ground every week !!!! - OK, fantasy over - Warnock for ER, not ideal but the best bet by far !!! ....... WE ALL LOVE LEEDS MOT.

Thursday, February 2, 2012 at 04:09 PM#12 - We're too big for Warnock? Are we heck. Given that we are likely to choose someone cheaper and less experienced just because they are malleable to the chairman, it would suggest that if anything he is too big for us. Lee Clark would be an awful appointment as would Di Canio. We need an experienced manager and it would be refreshing if Bates just for once acknowledged this. Colin is the best man for the job by a country mile - even if we are sick in our mouths a little bit and have to watch some agricultural football for a while.

Thursday, February 2, 2012 at 04:04 PMIf Paul Ince gets the job I will throw myself in the river. He is useless. Poyet would be my choice because he is talented and young. Obviously he has ruled himself out. I would therefore go with Neil Warnock because he has a proven track record and has passion. Whoever gets the job I hope he does not continue with that god awful loan system!!

Thursday, February 2, 2012 at 03:52 PMI think i we are all honest and speak with our heads and not our hearts then we have to try everything to get Niel Warnock !!! i know we have not all liked him in the past but he has a great record of gettung teams up on a small budget and would sort the defence out straight away ........................ NO NO INCE i would rather give my season ticket up than have him
