LEEDS United were denied a vital victory at Wolverhampton Wanderers by a controversial injury-time goal.
Danny Batth converted a dramatic header with 93 minutes on the clock after Wolves were awarded a debatable corner in the dying moments of a tense and lively clash
Until that moment, strikes from Luke Varney and Ross McCormack looked set to hand United a crucial win and keep them firmly in the hunt for a top-six Championship finish.
Wolves faced a constant battle with nerves in the first half but they made a better start to the second and Jamie O’Hara threatened Paddy Kenny which a 48th-minute header which dropped wide.
And the hosts took the lead six minutes later when Peltier slid the ball into his own net after Stephen Ward broke in behind Sam Byram and drilled a low cut-back through the six-yard area.
Leeds had an immediate chance to reply but David Norris fired a volley over the crossbar and the goal renewed the hosts’ confidence.
Kenny denied Kevin Foley a second with a low save and then dived to keep out a searing drive from Bakary Sako. Danny Batth should have scored on 64 minutes but could not keep a close-range header down.
Leeds made Wolves pay for that moments later as Varney ran onto McCormack’s pass and curled a sweet finish around Carl Ikeme, dragging the visitors back into the game.
Chances continued to flow and Paul Green cleared a Christophe Berra header off the goalline and Ikeme pulled off a brilliant low save to tipped Varney’s effort around a post on 70 minutes.
And United were gifted a the winner 12 minutes from time when Sako pulled back Sam Byram as the young defender broke into Wolves’ box.
McCormack made no mistake with a calm finish to Ikeme’s left but Batth snatched a point with a flying header after Kenny was adjudged to have knocked a loose ball behind.
Morison and Stephen Warnock were handed full debuts as Leeds United went in search of a vital away win at Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Morison started up front alongside McCormack, nine days after joining Leeds from Norwich City, and Warnock replaced Aidan White at left-back at Molineux.
Manager Neil Warnock made four changes in all, with Green featuring on the right wing and Norris coming into the centre of midfield in place of Rodolph Austin who returned late from international duty yesterday.
As Leeds attempted to cut the gap to the Championship’s play-offs, Wolves were desperate for points to stave off the growing threat of relegation.
Manager Dean Saunders fielded a strong side containing Jamie O’Hara, Doyle and Sylvain Ebanks-Blake.
