ONE man who definitely won’t be on his way to Leeds United this transfer deadline day is former loan defender Eric Lichaj - who could be out for up to four months after suffering a hip injury while playing for parent club Aston Villa.

The American full-back had been strongly linked with a return to Elland Road this summer after an impressive loan stint at the club in the second half of last season.

But Lichaj underwent an examination on a problematic hip injury last night, which revealed a hip socket cartilage tear.

The 22-year-old picked up the injury in Villa’s 2-0 Carling Cup victory over Hereford United last week, a game in which he scored his first-ever professional goal for the Villains.

I would have liked to have seen Eric back, hopefully something can be done in January. I understand that they are entering into contract talks with Nunez, hoping they get Howson and Clayton sorted too.

If he had any sense he would not have come back anyway. He would probably have gone to the footballing giant that is Ipswich or something
