Leeds United v Millwall: Grayson gives Whites a licence to thrill

Simon Grayson wants Leeds United to bring an end to criticism of their season by crushing League One's form team tonight.

United will renew hostilities with fierce rivals Millwall in front of a live television audience and Grayson will give his players licence to "express themselves" on a crucial evening at Elland Road.

Grayson admitted to "frustration" about United's standing in League One but he sees the club's crucial meeting with Millwall as a perfect opportunity to reassert their authority.

Grayson said: "The disappointing thing is that we'd all like to be promoted by now and have a jolly-up until the end of the season.

"If we'd turned one or two draws into the victories our performances warranted – like at Hartlepool and Leyton Orient – then we'd be in a better position but we're still in a great one. No other club is promoted yet and we've lost the fewest games in the division.

"Millwall are still looking to catch us and it's a big game that we should both be looking forward to. It's an opportunity for my players to express themselves and show what we're all about – to try and put to bed comments from people who say we're having a blip by winning the match."

Grayson identified Steve Morison, Millwall's leading scorer, as a key threat after five goals in his last three matches, and he will charge his players with breaking down a defence which has conceded less than a goal a game this season.

Millwall demonstrated their confidence last weekend with a 4-0 win over Charlton Athletic, and Grayson said: "Beating Charlton 4-0 is a great result.

"A few weeks ago everyone was ruling them out of even getting to the play-offs but you could never rule them out. They've got too many good players.

"The likes of Morison is scoring goals and (Neil) Harris is a big threat. Their defence is dogged as well so we know we'll be in a game, but it's a game we can win."
