FORMER Leeds United captain Richard Naylor has completed his protracted move to Championship rivals Doncaster Rovers.

Leeds-born Naylor, freed by United at the end of last term, has agreed a short-term deal with Rovers, who are hoping that the 34-year-old can provide some much needed steel and organisation to a back four which leaked 81 goals last term.

Naylor found himself out on the fringes for large parts of 2010-11 at United, featuring belatedly in the seasonal run-in, which saw him start the club’s final four matches and wear the skipper’s armband.

Only rock-bottom Scunthorpe United (87) shipped more league goals than Rovers last term, with boss Sean O’Driscoll eager to bring in an imposing defensive presence following the departure of Wayne Thomas.
