Leeds United: Becchio to blame for long absence - Bates

Ken Bates says Luciano Becchio has accepted responsibility for his bit-part contribution to Leeds United’s season after failing to undergo surgery as planned seven months ago.
The United chairman laid the blame for the delayed operation on Becchio’s injured hamstring at the door of the Argentinian forward, right, who has scored twice and started only a handful of games since making his comeback in September.

Becchio – last season’s top scorer with 20 goals – suffered his hamstring problem towards the end of April and was scheduled to have surgery the following month after United’s narrow failure to qualify for the Championship play-offs.
The striker travelled to Spain during the summer but did not go under the knife, and Leeds were forced to send him for an operation towards the end of July after Becchio broke down in the early stages of pre-season training. Most of his first-team appearances this term have come as a substitute.
Bates said: “Becchio has only just come back on the scene. That’s his fault and he knows it.
“He should have had his operation in May as he was told to and he didn’t. You can’t tie people down on the operating table, can you?
“He now realises that he made a mistake and lost three months.
“That’s a blow because he was our top-scorer last season.”
Manager Simon Grayson was unable to call on Becchio until Leeds’ 3-2 win over Crystal Palace on September 10 and the 27-year-old made his first league start in last month’s defeat to Barnsley at Elland Road.

To be honest, the best thing I could do is shove the olive branch up his backside, but there isn't any chance of me doing that, as he NEVER leaves his armchair ! Like all armchair fans, I call him a fan and not a supporter. Fans stay at home glued to their tv sets. Supporters go to games and pay their money to support their team. We all know what catagory koppite comes under. Actually, original koppite is the name that he should transfer to me, as I was on the Kop before he 1st went to ER in 1959. I was on it in 1955. So, don't preach to me koppite about LU, I have forgotten more about LUFC than you think you know.

Don't call me a numpty when all you do is spew nasty, negative comments about other's that contribute to the YEP. Perhaps, I need to remind other's and yourself that YOU DO NOT ATTEND LEEDS UNITED GAMES !!!! So, what gives you the right to question what I and other's say about team performances and the way the club is run ? WE spend our money at ER, so, we have every right to blame Bates's lack of investment on the field. Armchair fans like you make me sick ! I remember you once saying that you couldn't afford to go to ER anymore because of the cost. Yet, I have never seen you criticise the 'high' cost of attending ER because of Bates's price policy ? It's better to be a numpty, than a Richard Cranium !! If your not sure what a RC is, ask your your Dad, KB.

People don't have problems with differing opinions (except you), but what is unacceptable is just being abusive and hateful all the time. Maybe if you dealt with that side of your character, people would actually listen to you instead of seeing you as a bit of a joke.
