Leeds United: Whites reject bid for Snoddy UPDATED

Leeds United manager Neil Warnock has vowed to continue the fight against interest in Robert Snodgrass after rejecting Norwich City’s latest bid for his club captain.

Warnock confirmed that Norwich have submitted a fresh offer for Snodgrass but reiterated his intention to keep the Scotland international at Elland Road next season.

City, who bid around £3million for Snodgrass last season, are understood to have tabled another offer of £1.5million this week, an offer which United turned down.

Snodgrass is vulnerable to interest from the Premier League with his contract at Leeds into its final year and United yet to convince him to sign an extended deal which would make him their highest earner.

Warnock hoped that his recruitment of players this summer would persuade the 24-year-old to commit himself to Leeds for at least another season but United’s work in the transfer market has been hampered by the prospect of a takeover at Elland Road.

The Leeds boss said: “It’s been made public that they (Norwich) have bid but from our own point of view it’s not what we’re looking for.

“We’d like to keep Rob and Rob knows that. Whether that will be possible we’ll have to wait and see. It is difficult when players get their heads turned but I’d like to keep Rob at the club and that’s what I’m trying to do. Unless they (other teams) come up with a valuation that the club thinks is satisfactory then that’s what we want to do.”

Having refused Norwich’s approach for Snodgrass, Leeds are weighing up an offer of £500,000 from Derby County for Republic of Ireland Under-21 international Aidan White.

White, 20, is out of contract at Elland Road and has turned down a new deal but Leeds are entitled to compensation for their academy product on account of his age.

White’s fee will be set by a tribunal unless Leeds reach a private agreement to sell him to another club, and Derby’s Nigel Clough is one of a number of managers with an eye on the versatile winger.

Though White’s contract officially expired on June 30, he will continue to train with Warnock’s senior squad at Thorp Arch until a sale is agreed.
