Leeds United legend Brendan Ormsby answers your questions.

hi Brendan. I have watched all Leeds United’s games recently and we look like we are running out of steam a bit. One league win in six tells its own story and I am starting to get worried. What do you think?

PAUL DAVEY, Beeston

EARLIER on this season, things were going well in comparison to now. But I would not get too worried just yet for there’s a long way to go – we are, after all, only in November.

And remember in this division, it’s notorious for teams being able to beat one another and you can easily go on a good run after a bad one.

But what I would say is that we can’t get too far behind the teams at the top. If the gap grows too big, it will be a lot to make up later on in the season and we don’t want to be playing catch up all the time.

Our position, 15th, is not a nice one at the minute and a little gap has opened up between us and the top six.

If the situation doesn’t change in a few weeks’ time, going into December, then I think it would be time to worry a bit more.

I can only go on what I have seen. I have watched us a few times recently and against Charlton I thought we were lucky to get a draw for Charlton looked the better team on the night.

With the Southampton cup game, you can only beat what is in front of you and I said to people beforehand that the game depended on how serious they took it – we won easily against their reserve side.

Seeing the Brighton game, we were lucky to come away with anything for they had a great chance to win it with that penalty.

Looking at the team, in my opinion, we have one or two players who aren’t good enough.

We have a lot of grafters in there and players who are putting the shifts in. But we haven’t got anyone who you can give the ball to in the middle of the park to dictate.

chase

I go back to my time at Leeds – we just gave the ball to Shez (John Sheridan) and Ian Snodin, who could pick a player out anywhere on the pitch.

We haven’t got that now and instead we have got runners and tacklers and people who harry and chase. We haven’t got anyone who can put their foot on the ball and pick out a pass to open up a defence.

To be fair, El-Hadji Diouf gives us something a bit different further forward and the opposition will be aware of him – maybe in awe of him. He is quality and you can’t doubt that. at the moment, he stands out above any of our other lads.

Diouf doesn’t give it away or panic and is always liable to do something and that is down to experience.

For me, we are lacking a bit of flair elsewhere in the team.

People are saying that we need someone else up front and maybe so. Neil is not playing Luciano Becchio every week and he is clearly not happy with things at the minute.

But for me, we need someone to dictate in the middle if we are to climb into the Championship play-off places.
