YOUR VIEWS:
Funny really, how I'm reading about Leeds fans wanting the bill for damage caused by Millwall supporters sent to Millwall FC.
Cast your mind back, if you will, to May 1990, when the good folk of Yorkshire ran riot in the lovely seaside resort of Bournemouth, causing hundreds of thousands of pounds worth of damage to the town.
Did LUFC ever offer to compensate local businesses?
Did they help towards the mammoth policing bill footed by AFC Bournemouth?
Did they?
I think we all know the answers to those questions.
Yours sincerely,
J.Allen

It was Leeds fans who smashed the windows. I have seen various footage on YouTube of Leeds fans attacking these buses.....also I know people who were there and they also say that it was the home fans.......peope who live in glass houses springs to mind!!! HTFC

Before you rush to apportion blame for the disgraceful events at Elland Road last Saturday, some questions to ponder.
Why, at almost literally the 11th hour, did West Yorkshire Police choose to bus the visiting fans in from the city centre?
Why did they choose to send the buses via the Peacock?
Why did West Yorkshire Police choose to clear a 'war zone' in Elland Road before the match, where hundreds and possibly thousands of United fans were gathered in eager expectation of the visiting fans' arrival, and then bring in the buses to this area but not let the fans off?
Why is there so much focus on the away fans when there was a prolonged battle in Elland Road after the match between Police and large numbers of home fans, while the away fans were being held inside the stadium?
I saw a report that said that 12 Leeds fans were arrested, and no Millwall fans. Is this correct? And if so, why?
It appears to me that no-one comes out of this with any credit, not Millwall, not Leeds United, not West Yorkshire Police and not the Yorkshire Evening Post.

they charge a 2.50 return to Elland Road so they should have plenty of money to cover the costs

the behaviour of both sets of fans at the game was back to the bad old days i was at the game .However those buses were trashed long before they got to elland road i have pictures on my phone to prove it i was nursing a bleeding cut to the head having been hit on the head by glass showering from one window as it passed elland road myself and three sons were covered in broken glass this was broken from inside the bus by millwall fans there was some awful seens by BREMNER STATUE involving both sets of fans but the bus windows had long gone by then first bus should bill MILLWALL for the damage and more to the point millwall should pay it

Send Millwall the bill for the damage. Their followers are a disgrace to football and to the human race. Next time ferry them in cattle transporters with electric prods.

I am amazed at the myopic reporting and comments surrounding this situation. I am a longstanding Millwall season ticket holder and can assure you that only Season Ticket holders and Club Members were able to purchase tickets and indeed we had to show our season tickets to gain access to the ground.Let's not forget that Leeds "supporters" attacked the coaches with bricks and bottles and were clearly intent on making a show. There was always going to be trouble on the day otherwise why would Looks North be interested in following the Police for the day? Both clubs attract a minority of idiots. The policing was naive at best and to bring our supporters in past the Peacock was foolish at best. We were also subjected to missiles being thrown particularly from the so called family stand so let's not try and take the high moral ground. I find it amazing that we do not have these problems at the Den were the Police and the Club have taken measures to ensure the safety and comfort of all fans. Perhaps when your throwing sticks and stones you need to recall the problems Leeds caused after the last game we attended where they had to be charged by horses to clear the area to eanble us to get out. Let's all grow up and move on.

I think next time Leeds Play Millwall, the away fans should be paraded around the city in cages with wheels - so we can throw rotten vegetables at the animals!!!
****
I think the Millwall should be made to pay for all the damage and the extra policing that was needed.
I know that Leeds United would be heavily penalised by all authorities.
Including the Football League who would probably deduct us another 15 points.

Send Millwall FC the bill!
They gave assurances that the only fans travelling would be registered members and season ticket holders and therefore there would be no trouble.Hopefully video footage can identify some of the culprits, and they should contribute to the cost too,as well as being banned and charged.
It was probably naive to think they would be well-behaved though.

SEND MILLWALL FC THE BILL FOR THE DAMAGE OF THE BUS

Millwall FC should have to pay the bill after their assurances that no trouble makers would be travelling to the game. On the news report on BBC Look North it was stated the 90% of them were known trouble makers, if that was the case, why weren't they just sent back?
Other questions should also be asked about the route the buses took from the city centre, why on earth did they come down past the Peacock pub? Perhaps they would not have got so wound up if they had gone a more direct route and not past so many Leeds fans. So perhaps the police should contribute? After all it was the Police who lifted the travelling restrictions.

Send the bill to Millwall or get the culprits through video evidence and charge them with the costs. They might think twice about doing it if they had to pay up. There's been very little in the national press, if this was Leeds fans doing the damage, it would have been front page. One last thing is to ban them again, they made little noise and added nothing positive to the day.

There was only one winner out of this so called confrontation.. THE POLICE> Nice bit of overtime... They had all this arranged and new exactly what was going to happen when they brought the Millwall fans in on the Bus before the game and after the game .I thought the police were short staffed Not on a Match day. The young fans (ASBOs) react to the incidents like Leemings on a cliff..

Me and the wife went to the game on saturday and was disgusted at the way the hooligans behaved we just caught the end of it . it makes me wonder if the leeds fans acted lik that it would be headline news .these so called fans need banning from all grounds and playing behind closed doors , hurt the club in the pocket.

Why have you ommitted the fact that probably over 100 Millwall 'supporters' (I use that term loosely) decided to attack the police, stewards and Leeds fans in the South stand, as well as hurling missiles?
****
You should tell the reporter who wrote that peice to get the chip off his shoulder. You can hardly call it balanced reporting. And secondly if you treat people like animals then you must expect them to behave that way as well. I have heard first hand reports of the fans on the buses being attacked with the police refusing to let them off and the buses taking the turn by the peacock pub. It doesn't show the Yorkshire police in the best light does it?

i was a shamed to see how the millwall fans behaved during the match, the violence in there stand was outrageous, why do they behave like animals, i dont think they even came to watch the match they were hell bent on trouble, we saw police and stewards being attacked and it was frightening, leeds played well and deserved the win, i just no innocent people got hurt

Why did the double deckers drive by the peacock? I was stood around the back and as soon as they arrived it was like a tidal wave of leeds fans trying to get to the buses, If the police had any brains they would have brought the buses down the hill from Beeston then into the carpark!!!!

millwalls support was made up off kids and out of shape men,i think they were quite happy about the police presence, rumours were they had charlton and forest along with them, sad that grown men act like this,im talking more of the leeds fans

Leeds fans are not all saints and I'm sure some of them were looking for trouble but certain Millwall 'fans' did not help themselves. The buses passed me as I walked to the ground. The ground was not even in sight and yet the millwall 'fans' were smashing the windows showering pedestrains with glass. It didn't take a genius to see that there would be trouble when the buses turned up at the ground in that state.

The police knew exactly what they were doing and deliberately provoked the trouble, they have done it before at man u games. They can now reasonably ask for more money for policing and can keep games like this to noon kick offs.

Police did not think very hard obviously. they should have walked the millwall fans from the train station and not send them on buses and after all the commotion on the buses they should have all been sent back and not allowed in. to be fair the police were good inside the ground and got it all under control (eventually) there was half of west yorkshire police there and i think more should and could have been done
