Leeds United v Kettering Town: How the Whites rated - Hay

YEP chief football writer Phil Hay rates how Leeds United's players performed against Kettering Town.

Casper Ankergren: His kicking left a little bit to be desired but he had few saves to make on the night and could do nothing with Elding's header except pick it out of his net...6/10

Andrew Hughes: A gruelling shift for a player making his first appearance after a groin strain, and the visitors did not get a great deal of change out of him...6/10

Leigh Bromby: Conspicuous by his absence when Elding ghosted in and levelled the score, but his run in the build-up to Grella's first goal was the inspiration United were looking for...7/10

Lubomir Michalik: Cruised through the first half but, like Bromby, failed to pick up Elding's run and his distribution was mixed. But it could not be said that Town created countless chance...6/10

Aidan White: Nice to see him given a chance and a real shame to see him limp off injured. Defended sensibly and proved a valuable asset going forward with his pace and skill...6/10

Jonathan Howson: Prominent at first but drifted to the periphery of the game and seemed isolated at times. No problems with his work-rate but would have expected to be more involved...5/10

Neil Kilkenny: Bang in form at the moment and played very well, striking the woodwork before the break and maintaining his composure when others around him were losing their heads...8/10

Michael Doyle: Refused to give Kettering a kick for 60 minutes, and the sudden loss of control in the centre of Leeds' midfield was bizarre. What should have been a comfortable night became a struggle...6/10

Robert Snodgrass: Frustrated in the period of the game when Kettering gained a foothold but had a hand in two of the goals and also hit the visitors' crossbar. Incurred a costly yellow card...6/10

Luciano Becchio: One of United's best players last night, despite his recent lack of football. Scored the first goal with an accurate header and hit the post early in the second half...7/10

Jermaine Beckford: Got his goal in the end after coming up second best against Kettering's inspired goalkeeper Lee Harper. Not his clinical self though and could have finished with a hatful...6/10

Substitutes:

Tony Capaldi (for White, 56)...5/10

Tresor Kandol (for Becchio, 76)...8/10

Mike Grella (for Hughes, 106)...8/10

Not used: David Prutton, Alan Martin, Jason Crowe, Rui Marques.
