Leeds United v Huddersfield Town: Big guns back for derby date

Simon Grayson is poised to revert to a more familiar line-up tomorrow as Leeds United seek a sixth successive league victory and a first over Huddersfield Town for two years.

United's manager took the unusual step of resting key players at Oldham Athletic on Tuesday night, making four changes to the line-up which drew with Kettering Town in the FA Cup last weekend, but a number of recalls look likely for the first West Yorkshire derby of the season.

Jermaine Beckford, who was an unused substitute during Leeds' 2-0 win at Boundary Park, is virtually certain to return to United's starting side and Robert Snodgrass is hoping to be reinstated after appearing for the final 16 minutes of the victory over the Latics.

Meanwhile, Michael Doyle, will be considered again after being omitted from Tuesday's 18-man squad.

Centre-back Patrick Kisnorbo was also left out at Boundary Park with Leeds unwilling to gamble on his knee injury, but he is likely to be in full contention this weekend, competing with Lubomir Michalik and Leigh Bromby for a place in the middle of Leeds' defence.

Grayson said: "He had a fitness test on Tuesday morning but we felt that it was too much of a risk to play him against Oldham.

"We've got plenty of games coming up and Lubo and Leigh have been performing well."

Grayson has four players struggling with injury – Andrew Hughes, Bradley Johnson, experienced centre-back Richard Naylor and goalkeeper Shane Higgs – and the quartet will be overlooked again if United are unconvinced by their fitness.

Left-back Ben Parker remains a long-term absentee and is unlikely to be available for duty until next month.
