LEEDS UNITED: Simon Grayson hails his table-toppers
Jermaine Beckford pounced on the most catastrophic of errors to take Leeds United back to the top of League One and strike what Simon Grayson hopes will be a savage blow to a major promotion rival.
Beckford scored three minutes into injury-time at Elland Road last night to settle a compelling fixture between Leeds and Norwich City and regain United's dominant hold on their division.
The striker took advantage of a woeful clearance from Canaries keeper Fraser Forster, breaking away and forcing home his eighth goal of the season to inflict a dramatic 2-1 defeat on an impressive City side.
The Carrow Road club have played their way into form under new manager Paul Lambert and dominated long spells of last night's match, but Forster's late error left City trailing United, who extended the country's only unbeaten league record into a 12th match, by 11 points, with a game in hand.
Grayson said: "It's nice to be top of the table again and it's good inspiration when you go down to second to get back up there again. It's where we want to be."
