Leeds United: Manchester City poised to sign Fabian Delph in potential £10m deal
MONEY-BAGS Manchester City are closing in on a potential £10m swoop for much-coveted Leeds United midfielder Fabian Delph.
Mark Hughes confirmed the Eastlands club's interest in the 19-year-old Elland Road star after City's 1-1 pre-season draw at Barnsley.
"We have an interest in the situation," said Hughes, after seeing Martin Petrov's late goal rescue a draw at Oakwell.
"He is a young player who has been brought to our attention.
"I'm not sure where we are up to with that because obviously I have been busy with today's game," the former Welsh international added.
City, who have already lavished over 100m on six new signings this summer, are poised to snatch Delph from under the noses of Premier League rivals Aston Villa and Everton.
Martin O'Neill and David Moyes have both had bids for the England Under-21 international rejected by United chairman Ken Bates this close season.
Tottenham are also interested, but have not tabled an offer for the Football League's young player of the year, but City's spending power is likely to see them win the race for Delph's signature.
The highly-rated youngster did not play in Leeds' excellent 2-1 friendly win over top-flight new boys Burnley at Turf Moor, Leeds revealing he had suffered an injury in training on Friday.
