LEEDS UNITED: Good and bad news on injury front

Rui Marques is back in contention for tomorrow's clash with Walsall after recovering from a niggling back injury.

Marques was left out of Leeds United's squad for Tuesday's 3-1 win over Leyton Orient due to a minor complaint, but he trained with the first-team squad yesterday and is available for selection again.

Midfielder Andrew Hughes is less likely to be involved tomorrow, however, due to the groin strain he suffered 24 hours before Orient's visit to Elland Road.

Hughes was left in the hands of United's physiotherapy staff yesterday morning and appears to have a better chance of featuring in next week's visit to Southend United.

Alan Sheehan (torn hamstring) is still three weeks away from a comeback and Leeds have also confirmed that young defender Paul Huntington has been sidelined by a groin injury.

Boss Gary McAllister said: "We've been lucky with most players being fully fit, and I've been picking from a full squad since the start of the season.

"There are a few little niggles but, with the amount of games we've had recently, it's something we expect. This is when we have to utilise the squad."

Huntington, meanwhile, has been charged with improper conduct by the Football Association over his behaviour in the clash between Leeds and Carlisle United at Elland Road back on April 12.

The defender issued a public apology after gesturing repeatedly towards Carlisle's fans during the League One match, which ended in a 3-2 victory for McAllister's men.

Huntington has until November 4 to respond to a charge of breaching FA rule E3.
