Leeds United: Away form key to play-off charge - Norris

David Norris.

David Norris.

David Norris has admitted that Leeds United’s ambition of reaching the play-offs will slip away unless the club arrest their mediocre away form.

The Leeds midfielder, inset, expressed bemusement at Leeds’ struggle to pick up points on the road but said their results outside Elland Road have “got to improve before the end of the season.”

Leeds travel to Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday with a six-point gap separating them from the Championship’s last play-off place and their position in the league weakened by a tally of three away wins.

Norris scored in United’s most recent – a 4-2 victory at Huddersfield Town at the start of December, right, – but the club have taken just six points from their last 10 league matches away from home and are at risk of dropping out of the fight for a top-six finish.

Norris said: “We don’t really do anything different – preparation, team or tactics-wise – for away games so it’s hard to put your finger on it. But if we want to do something we’ve got to pick it up and our away form’s got to improve before the end of the season.”
