Brighton v Leeds United: How the Whites rated

Yorkshire Evening Post sports writer on how Leeds United's players rated in the victory at the Withdean Stadium.

Casper Ankergren: One of his quieter days. But what he did, he did well. Cleared his lines impressively and produced a great second-half punch under pressure as Albion briefly threatened - 7/10

Leigh Bromby: Barely gave winger Dean Cox a sniff and was solidity personified all afternoon. He put in a disciplined performance along with all of the defensive line - 7/10

Lubomir Michalik: Big Lubo had an excellent afternoon against one of the better forward partnerships in the division. His timely intervention to deny Murray started the move which led to Beckford's strike - 8/10

Patrick Kisnorbo: His warm-up involved heading the ball a country mile and was again rock-solid in the air and on the deck. Handled the defensive lieutenant's mantle in the absence of Naylor seamlessly - 8/10

Andrew Hughes: Another steady-eddie showing and linked up impressively with Snodgrass. Whipped in some fine deliveries and made a telling first-half intervention as well - 7/10

Jonny Howson: The skipper-for-the-day took his switch to the right-hand side firmly in his stride and proved a threat going forward. Put in an exhaustive shift and came off with cramp late on - 8/10

Michael Doyle: United's continuity player produced an excellent performance and showed just what he brings to the side. He's someone who cleans up more efficiently than the most fastidious janitor - 8/10

Neil Kilkenny: Not to put too fine a point on it, bossed the game from start to finish on not the easiest of days and surfaces. Ran his heart out, showed his skill and grabbed a goal. Superb - 9/10

Robert Snodgrass: Showed up the folly of stuttering Scotland ignoring him following this top-notch performance that was crowned with a marvellous first-half strike. Revelled in the space afforded him, particularly in the first half - 8/10

Jermaine Beckford: Excellent. Did well in the build-up to Snodgrass' goal and his assists count is rising. Displayed prodigious skill to score his goal and was a constant thorn in Brighton's side - 8/10

Sam Vokes: Came into the game strongly and linked up impressively with Beckford. Went close with a fierce shot just before the break and led the line maturely with a few moments of skill as well - 7/10

Substitutes:

David Prutton (for Howson, 81) - 7/10

Enoch Showunmi (for Vokes, 83) - 6/10

Max Gradel (for Beckford 89) - 6/10
