Lawnswood School: Students enjoy badminton success

Students from Lawnswood School took part in the Inter Team Badminton Championships.

Pupils, ranging from Year 7 to Year 11 took part in the championships at Oakbank School in Keighley, hosted by the Keighley Kobras badminton club.

The 11 students were Luke Trueman (Year 7), Jonny Taylor, Arron Booth, Callum McKeown (All Year 8), Charlie Magee, Penny Cartwright (Both Year 9), Robert Hainsworth, Shannon Russell, Jack Haire, Richard Collinson (All Year 10) and Andrew Thomson (Year 11).

The team played very well with Jonny Taylor and Arron Booth and Callum McKeown and Robert Hainsworth being the two pairs of the day with 10 wins between them out of a possible 18 games. Overall Lawnswood finished in tied 3rd place with Keighley.

Team manager, Alistair Young, said: "I am very proud to have taken such a large Lawnswood team back to my home town of Keighley and really hope that the experience will help us as we build towards the huge West Yorkshire Youth Games."
