It's not job done just yet warns Celts boss
BOSS Neil Parsley is determined the safety zone won't become the comfort zone for his flying Farsley Celtic side.
Parsley, who had earmarked Christmas to escape the drop zone in Blue Square North, has seen his side reach their target in double-quick time after picking up three wins and a draw and suffering just one defeat last month.
But ahead of tomorrow's trip to Eastwood Town the message from the experienced manager is clear: it's not job done yet.
And he wants his players – who began the season on -10 points – to keep their feet on the accelerator in the run up to the busy festive period.
Parsley said: "I did set mental goals, and I went on record as saying if we were level on points or within reach of the sides just above the relegation zone by Christmas I would be happy, but we have done way better than that.
"We are way ahead of schedule – but we have got to keep it going now.
"It's not job done by any stretch – we can't think like that because football has a funny way of kicking you where it hurts. You are always found out if you are not on your metal.
"We can't take our foot off the gas – we have to keep the momentum going."
Farsley, who started the season with a points deduction after entering administration, had wiped out the deficit before the end of August to reach target number one.
A stunning victory over leaders Southport followed in September and target number two was reached in October which kicked off with a 3-0 home victory over Hyde United.
Parsley went on holiday happy Farsley were heading in the right direction and by the time he returned Celtic, after two wins and a draw under assistant manager Simeon Bambrook and coach Mark Jackson, had four sides trailing them in the table.
They will now look to move onwards and upwards at fifth-placed Eastwood, who will be smarting from a heavy defeat to Southport last weekend.
Parsley said: "We were just in the relegation zone when I went away and two wins and a draw for Jacko and Sim was great. The lads have kept going what we have implemented this season both results-wise and performance-wise.
"We want more of the same now.
"Eastwood is always a tough game, and it won't be helped by the fact Southport spanked them 5-1 last Saturday. They will be hurting and they will be looking to address that result.
"But we are set up and full of confidence.
"If you added the 10 points on we lost at the start of the season we would be in the top 10 ourselves so all in all it should be a good game."
Harrogate Town, who have slumped to the foot of the table, are without a fixture this weekend.
