This was a great start to the New Year with the game being a great test of strength and stamina – and that's just for the supporters.
A draw would probably have been a fair result on the balance of a real end-to-end game but Burley could not penetrate an absolutely fantastic defensive display from Lucy, Erica and Emily.

Lucy's positional play was superb, clearing up anything that came at her and passing out of defence. Erica, once again, put in all the crunching tackles that were necessary, leading by example.
Emily was superb, coming off her line to make vital saves in the first half, holding onto the ball to stop shots and passing the ball out well to her defence.
Lisa played her best game so far up front, controlling the ball well and running strongly at the Burley defence, just never getting the chance to get a shot away.
Ellie was struggling with a foot injury but still managed to run through the pain to make a few chances.
In midfield, Charlotte just didn't stop running and must have covered every blade of grass, making her tackles, taking people on and playing short simple passes.
Victoria looked very strong, winning the ball, running at the Burley defence and taking time to make some excellent passes.
Rachel was playing in her second game of the day but her stamina kept her going on a pitch that seemed to get bigger as the game went on.
Grace blazed our best shot over the bar in the first half, then hit the bar in the second.
Eventually she squeezed one in at the near post and then made the game secure with a well-taken second before Burley came back with a late consolation in a frantic last few minutes.
