Horsforth Rangers 5
Baildon New Inn 3
Horsforth Rangers continued there recent rich vein of form with their fourth consecutive victory in all competitions, all four wins have come at the Tinshill Top Arena which is quickly becoming a home fortress.
Rangers made a poor start to the game struggling to cope early on with Baildon's long ball tactics and were twice caught out in the opening 20 minutes to leave the away side 2 goals to the good and well worthy of being so.
A quick tactical change by the Management team soon resolved the issue with Alex Bradbury moving from centre half into the centre of midfield and taking control of the game.
On 37 minutes a lovely flick on by Paul "Bruce" Hallett saw Gavin Symonds race away on the right, rounding the out rushing keeper before finishing from an acute angle despite the best efforts of the on line defender.
It was Symonds second goal in two games and he appears to be settling in well at his new club.
On the stroke of half time a horror challenge on the edge of the Baildon box on Paul Walker resulted in an unsavoury incident with a melee of players from both sides venting their anger, as those around him lost their heads Hallett kept his to coolly stroke the 20 yard free kick around the wall and into the bottom corner via the inside of the post to leave the scores level at 2 - 2 at the break.
Player manager Carl Covey was replaced with top scorer Richard "Ants" Lee, on 65 minutes.
Within two minutes, and against the run of play the ball broke to the Baildon winger who's cross-cum-shot ended up evading Wilson's despairing dive and dropping into the net.
While others heads may have dropped Rangers started to dominate, their passing game came to the fore and the opposition struggled with the pace of the Rangers attack, on 70 minutes Grant Ritchie slid a ball out wide left for Silas Collinge who, from just inside the area, expertly curled the ball around the keeper and into the far corner to once again draw Rangers level and at this stage you could sense only one winner.
Rangers pressed on hungry for their first league victory of the season and on 75 minutes following some wonderful flowing football Collinge fed the ball into Lee who expertly span his marker on the edge of the box before unleashing a fantastic right footed strike into the back of the net, the impressive Baildon keeper had no chance.
Within five minutes the game was all but over as a contest as once again super sub Lee raced through and his low drive beat the keeper only to see the ball agonisingly rebound back off the post and back into play where the impressive Collinge turned the ball back into the 6 yard box where the incoming Hallett cheekily back heeled the ball into the net with a natural predators instinct, new signing Hallett is really starting to find his feet with his fourth goal in three games.
Next up for Rangers is a tricky County Cup tie away at Kippax Welfare Social of the Jubilee Premier Division.
