Horsforth 10k looks forward to bumper entry

Despite being in competition with the Great North Run organisers of the Horsforth 10K are expecting a bumper field on Sunday. Click here for full details.

Race sponsors, Nuffield Hospital Leeds, who are supporting the race for the 20th year in succession will have representives in the race which follows the 'new' route from Woodhouse Grove School at Apperley Bridge, back towards Horsforth and returns along the Leeds-Liverpool canal towpath.

Radio Aire presenter Producer V will be running the race and is hoping to have a team of Radio Aire listeners with him to raise funds for the 'Kids Count' charity.

Radio Aire have formed their own running club and have their own coach to prepare their runners for the day.

Organising club, Horsforth Harriers, are this year raising funds for Take Heart, a locally based charity run voluntarily by former heart patients who have all benefited from treatment in Yorkshire Heart Centre at the General Infirmary at Leeds, St James's Hospital and Units within the Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.

Since its inception Take Heart has raised over a million pounds for various projects which have improved the lot of heart patients, their families and hospital staff.

The club have also separately made a donation to the Jane Tomlinson Trust.

A spokesman for Horsforth Harriers said: "Jane ran several Horsforth 10k's and was gracious enough to present the prizes at a previous race and will be sadly missed by the local running community, but will continue to serve as an inspiration to all."

* Entries will be accepted on the day from 9am at Woodhouse Grove School. The race starts at 10am.
