Turf Talk: Mise En Rose can be trusted to go well under William Buick's direction

Mise En Rose has the tools to thrive in the 32Red EBF Stallions Fleur De Lys Fillies' Stakes at Lingfield.

Godolphin’s filly has an appealing profile for a race of this nature and can be trusted to go well in the hands of William Buick.

Trainer Charlie Appleby, who won this Listed affair two years ago with Tearless, has long been an admirer of Mise En Rose, whose efforts on a racecourse have perhaps deserved a little more than she has actually achieved.

A narrow runner-up in a seven-furlong Group Three at Doncaster in September, she then probably found the drop in distance too sharp a month later at Newmarket.

That said, Mise En Rose still emerged from the Listed Boadicea Fillies’ Stakes with honour as she was away from the main hub of the action yet still finished a staying-on third to Kassia.

It hardly comes as a shock to see the three-year-old daughter of War Front chance her arm over back over a mile at Lingfield – a distance at which she won so well at Chelmsford in May. Muffri’Ha could be a tough horse to get by, but William Haggas’ inmate must give a lot of weight away to Mise En Rose, who has had this race on her radar since her Newmarket run.

The other Listed race on the card, 32Red EBF Stallions River Eden Fillies’ Stakes, could be owned by Eyeshine. John Gosden’s well-bred three-year-old has not had a great deal of racing, but she looked really sleek at Kempton in September when she pulled eight lengths clear in a mile-and-a-half fillies’ maiden.

The form of that probably does not amount to a great deal, but she is clearly a nice horse with a bit of an engine.

And though she has a lot to find on the ratings with the likes of Last Tango Inparis, there is every chance this longer trip of a mile and five furlongs sees the daughter of Dubawi in an even more appealing light.
