HORSFORTH golfing prodigy Lee Spurling continues to make progress on the road to golfing fame, with the 15 -year-old netting two new sponsorship deals.

The youngster, w, will receive free one-to-one training and nutritional guidance from Edge Gyms in one deal, whilst local company Hunters Coaches will contribute towards Golf memberships and equipment in another.

Proud father, Ian Spurling, who nicknames his son “the Wolf’” was delighted with the positive influence the sponsors could have on his golfing career.

Guidance

With golf becoming an increasingly physical sport, Spurling was particularly optimistic about the assistance and guidance Lee will get from having Edge Gyms on board.

He said: “Lee will be completely transformed next year. Edge Gyms have personal trainers, nutritionists and they have drawn up a personal programme for Lee, giving him one-to-one training and advice.

“He’s got a proper diet plan which is going to be fantastic.”

He continued: “The aim is to get some serious power into Lee’s play.

“Distance wise, increasing his strength will help that no end.

“He will become a pro golfer in no time.

“Tiger Woods raised the bar for fitness and Lee has to follow that example.

“He’ll be a monster in the next couple of years.”

With Hunters Coaches also making a vital contribution towards equipment and membership fees, this is an exciting phase in the development of the young local golfer.

Spurling stressed that Lee would have to be patient this year, but will see the benefits from his work in the near future.

He added: “It will take a bit of time for him to get used to his new power.

“So he will enter a couple of tournaments this year but the main emphasis will be on training and adjusting to new regimes.

“It won’t be long. though, before he will be breaking records left, right and centre.”
