HUDDERSFIELD’S Sandra Paul is the 2011 Yorkshire Veteran Ladies Golf Association champion.
She beat Bridlington’s Colleen McCormack four and two to land the Walkland Trophy in the final of the event staged at Hessle Golf Club.
Ninety-seven entrants, with handicaps ranging from scratch to 16, entered, with 16 players reaching the matchplay knockout after a qualifying round based on best gross score.
Bracken Ghyll’s Janet Vorster, an eight handicapper, led the qualifiers with a 78 to win the Barrett Trophy, and she was followed by Crosland Heath’s Gill Travis, who shot an 81.
Karen Leake (Oakdale), Pannal’s Hilary Smyth, Carole Simpson (Allerthorpe Park) and Malton and Norton pair Pat Hague – who received the Elliot Trophy for best nett score from her 12 handicap – and Judy Butler all finished with 82s.
Huddersfield member Pat Wrightson, Rotherham’s Julia Smith, Olivia Ellerington, of Brough, Baildon’s Michelle Reynolds, Christine Hinchliffe from Sand Moor joined McCormack and Paul in the last 16.
The final two places went to host club duo Val Holmes and Di Kingswood.

Round 2: Smith bt Vorster 7&6; McCormack bt Hinchcliffe 4&2; Paul bt Reynolds 6&4, Butler bt Travis 3&2.
Round 3: McCormack bt Smith 3&2; Paul bt Butler 7&6.
Final: Paul bt McCormack 4&2.
A stableford competition, for the non-qualifiers, was won by Oakdale’s Joyce Slater, a 10 handicap, with 39 points. Another 10 handicapper, Garforth’s Beth Nicholson, finished runner-up a point further back.
