Two-goal Michael gives Hall a big lift

COUNTY AMATEUR LEAGUE BY NICK WOOD STORTHES Hall go from strength to strength at the top of the Premier Division and two Michael Tunnicliffe goals and another from Chris Drew proved enough to sink Eastmoor.

Hall have now collected 12 points from their five games and lead Bay Athletic by two points.

Athletic were without a game and Tyersal took advantage to move level on points with a 1-0 win over Ardsley Celtic, Jamie Shields scoring the all-important goal.

Wibsey also recorded a victory at Brighouse Town to move up to fourth in the table. Damien Melvin bagged a brace with Daryl Leach getting the other and Sean Walsh and Wayne Gibson replying for Town.

Golcar United also won by the odd goal in five to see off Halifax Irish. Liam Rothery, Ben Powiss and Chris Fawcett were on target with Danny Megson and Colin Mathews replying.

See-saw

The remaining top-flight game saw Lower Hopton share the spoils with Campion in a 2-2 draw.

But if that match proved entertaining, the league's match of the day was reserved for Dudley Hill Rangers' match with Keighley Shamrocks in Division Two.

In a see-saw battle, hosts Rangers struck four times through Jason Knowles, Roman Zurik, Chris Braddon and Paul License with Shamrocks hitting back through Danny Flynn, Liam Bellamy, Mark Rutherford and Adrian Ackroyd.

Leaders Overthorpe also hit four – but this time without reply – as they despatched Marsden with little fuss, Jason Milner and Capo Carr grabbing a brace apiece.

Meltham are second but could only claim a point from a 3-3 home draw with Kirkburton, while South Bradford and Farnley are third and fourth respectively after wins over Wakefield City and Heckmondwike Town.
