Smith hat-trick seals Nags' cup glory

A PENALTY from Timothy Smith in extra-time earned Farnley Nags Head the Leeds Red Triangle League's Mark Kirkham Senior Cup with a 3-2 victory over Wykebeck Arms United.

Smith had twice given Farnley the lead before his efforts were cancelled out by Gareth Hirst and Danny Pegg.

But Smith converted the penalty to complete his hat-trick and a fine day for Farnley.

However, Wykebeck bounced back to reach the final of the Metcalfe Sports Challenge Cup with a 4-0 win over Farnley thanks to Neil Mylands' treble and a Mark Asquith strike on Saturday.

They will meet Drighlington Adwalton, who saw off East Leeds 3-0. Matthew Richards, Liam Dent and Ashley Brooke were on target for Drigh.

In the Hainsworth Premier Division, Yew Tree East Leeds thumped Middleton Park 5-0 courtesy of two goals from Matthew Stoker and a goal apiece from Neil Hindle, Mark Chester and John Dolan.

Elsewhere, Halton Moor edged out Churchwell New Inn by the odd goal in seven.

David Stead, Scott Robson, Mark McNamara and Gillian Seeley were on target for Halton.

Robert Holt's double earned Amaranth a share of the spoils as they drew 3-3 with Ekhaya African Sports.

Ryan Burrows also netted, while Charles Tarisay and Akunany Akuang were the men on the mark for Sports.

Meanwhile, Graham Stockdale's brace was enough for Rowland Road WMC as they won 2-0 at Merlins.

In the Jackson Trophies Senior Division, Andy Lund's hat-trick helped Farsley Bay Horse to a resounding 7-1 win over Middleton Park Reserves.

Gate beat New Farnley 4-1 thanks in part to Craig McDonagh's brace.
