Oli set for Miners return
NOSTELL MINNERS WELFARE are set to welcome League One outfit Stockport County – and former favourite Oli Johnson – to the Welfare Ground next month as part of their pre-season preparations,
Stockport agreed to play Nostell as part of the deal which took jet-heeled striker Johnson, pictured left, from the Northern Counties East League club to Edgeley Park last season.
Highly-rated Johnson has been the centre of much speculation this summer, with the likes of West Bromwich Albion and Premier League outfit Fulham reportedly courting the Horbury-based goalscorer.
But he remains contracted to Stockport for now and could make a sentimental return to his former stamping ground.
The game will take place on Saturday, July 18 (kick-off 2.30pm) as part of Miners' preparations for their third season in the NCE League.
The NCE League is due to release its fixture list for next season in the next fortnight or so.
Due to ground-sharing issues, the NCE must wait until both the Conference and UniBond League release their fixtures so that any clashes can be avoided.
The early rounds of the FA Cup and FA Vase – drawn tomorrow – also need to be taken into consideration.
The UniBond League is expected to publish its fixtures on July 15.
