O'Hearn brace keeps Easts on pace

RED TRIANGLE LEAGUE EAST LEEDS made it six out of six in the Hainsworths Premier League when they defeated Seacroft 4-2 with goals from Matthew O'Hearn (2), Kane Ashcroft and Danny Fitzgerald.

Seacroft, who are currently sixth, gave a good account of themselves – scoring through David Sutcliffe and James Cowlam – but were undone by the greater firepower of the hosts. An unfortunate own goal saw Rowland Road WMC to a 1-0 verdict over Merlins, while Corpus Christi came home by the odd goal in seven at Middleton Park – Steven Gale (2), John Chadwick and Jonathan Bargewell grabbing their goals. Luke Addinall (2) and Dennis Stewart grabbed the goals for the hosts.

The other Premier sides were in cup action with current leaders Farnley Nags Head easing past Churwell New Inn 4-0 in the Mark Kirkham Senior Cup courtesy of goals from Adam Butterworth (2), Gaz Clough and Danny Dodsworth.

Meanwhile, goals from Linval Goddard, Marcus Nevers, James Ball and Jamie Simpson gave Yew Tree East Leeds a 4-2 verdict over Amaranth.

In the Metcalfe Sports Challenge Cup, Halton Moor edged home 4-3 at Skinners Arms with Ian Stead, Adam Proctor, Steve Mallory and Julian Sealey netting for the visitors.

Only two games took place in the Jackson Trophies Division with four Peter Jackson goals seeing Churwell New Inn to a 7-1 win over Middleton Park Reserves, while Drighlington Adwalton saw off Leeds Deaf 3-0.

In the Parkfield Suite Cup, a brace apiece from Colin Gales and Stephen Cooper saw Gate to a 7-3 success at the expense of New Farnley.

Bainbridge United edged Farnley Sports by the odd goal in three and Super Eagles won 3-2 at Dynamo Turbot after extra time.
