GUISELEY stopped the rot as they ended a run of three straight defeats with a 2-2 draw against Workington at Nethermoor.

Steve Kittrick’s side twice led against their Cumbrian visitors, but in the end had to settle for a point – despite having chances to take all three.

The hosts broke the deadlock on 28 minutes when James Walshaw forced his way into the area and finished really well from a tight angle.

That came just seconds after Danny Ellis had cleared Adam Maine’s goalbound effort off the line at the other end.

The Reds equalised on 45 minutes through Gareth Arnison, before Warren Peyton hit an upright for the Lions in first-half stoppage time.

Walshaw’s close-range finish on 51, put Guiseley back in front, but Arnison again equalised on 83, before sub Danny Forrest squandered a great chance to win it for Guiseley at the death.

Elsewhere, FC Halifax Town’s march to Conference North continues after they thrashed Evo-Stik Premier rivals Stocksbridge PS, 5-1.

Danny Holland bagged a hat-trick for Neil Aspin’s side, with Tom Baker’s penalty and Jamie Vardy completing the rout.

In First Division North, struggling Ossett Albion climbed off the bottom as goals by Ryan White and Joshua Moore set up a 2-0 win over visitors Trafford, while Wakefield FC eased their drop fears as a goal by Delroy Ferguson sank hosts Prescot Cables. Garforth Town twice came from behind to draw 2-2 at home to Radcliffe Borough thanks to goals in either half from David Brown and Darren Kelly.

In the NCE League Cup third round, Liversedge defeated Bridlington Town 2-0, while Scarborough Athletic triumphed 3-0 against Bottesford.

In the Premier Division, the match between Hallam and Selby Town was abandoned due to fog – with the Robins trailing 2-0.
