Ryan Watson hit a last-gasp strike to win the Northern Counties East League Cup for 10-man Farsley AFC and complete the double for Neil Parsley’s men in a 1-0 victory over Winterton Rangers.
Farsley had to play almost the entire match with 10 players as captain Dominic Krief was red carded inside the opening two minutes for allegedly kneeing James O’Neil.
As a result, Farsley had to change their tactics, sitting players behind the ball and waiting to pounce on the counter attack.
Keeper Tom Morgan produced a man-of-the-match display and denied Winterton’s Liam Wilkin on numerous occasions.
NCEL Premier Division leading scorer Wilkin was then sent off for a second bookable offence – throwing the game back in Farsley’s favour.
And with the tie looking destined for extra-time, Watson’s low strike from the edge of the area sealed a memorable day for the Farsley players and supporters.
