FARSLEY AFC maintained their EvoStik League First Division North promotion quest as yesterday’s 4-1 success at home to Ossett Albion got them back on the winning trail.

Six days on from Boxing Day’s 1-1 draw at Harrogate Railway, Farsley looked in bother when Tyrone Gay fired the visitors into an 11th-minute lead.

But Matty James levelled ten minutes later with Aiden Savory putting Farsley ahead on the stroke of half-time.

Savory then bagged his second mid-way through the second half with Robert O’Brien putting the gloss on a four-star performance with his goal two minutes from time.

Harrogate Railway continued their decent form with a 3-2 success at Wakefield.

Nathan Cartman put Rail’ in front after just two minutes with the lead doubled by Colin Hunter ten minutes before half-time.

Wakefield then came fighting back as Robert Bordman netted on 55 and 67 minutes but Cartman’s second won the game for Rail’ with 17 minutes remaining.

Ossett Town’s home clash with New Mills was postponed due to waterlogged pitch.

In the Premier Division, Frickley Athletic shared a 1-1 draw with visiting Whitby Town.

Luke Hinsley fired Frickley into an 18th-minute lead but Mark Robinson levelled 11 minutes after half-time.

In First Division South, Goole AFC fell to a 3-1 loss at Brigg Town.

But Scarborough Athletic were 2-0 winners at home to Lincoln United.

Ryan Williams was quick into his stride for 2014 to give the Seadogs a first-minute lead which was doubled by Gary Bradshaw 17 minutes later.

In Skrill Premier, FC Halifax Town had to settle for a 3-3 draw at home to Gateshead who came back from being 2-0 and 3-1 down.

Lee Gregory opened the scoring after 10 minutes for the hosts, firing home from 20 yards out, before converting again with a fine effort three minutes later.

James Brown hit back for the visitors in the second half, but Simon Ainge’s header restored the two-goal margin.

Marcus Maddison and James Marwood struck to level, before Maddison hit the crossbar twice late on.

Harrogate Town’s trip to Guiseley was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch, as was Bradford Park Avenue’s home clash with Stockport County.

North Ferriby United enjoyed a 2-0 success at home to Gainsborough. A Danny Hone strike and a Callum Howe own goal put the Villagers into second.
