Cooper nets four as Gate triumph

STEPHEN COOPER scored four as new Red Traingle League Hainsworth Premier leaders Gate FC romped to a 7-0 win at East Leeds.

Matthew Jackson, Craig McDonagh and Nathaniel Welsh also weighed in with goals as Gate climbed above Halton Moor in the table.

Wykebeck Arms lost ground on the top two after suffering a surprise 2-1 defeat at home to Kippax Welfare. Joe Lightfoot with the home consolation.

David Sutcliffe was the Seacroft WMC hero scoring a hat-trick in the 3-2 win over lowly Merlins, who had Kyle Bell and Desmond Gregson on the scoresheet, while Dewsbury Road Social thrashed Ekhaya 7-2.

Ryan Legge, Graham Stockdale and Mark Gunsal all got doubles for Social, with Mark Raimond bagging the other. Steve Sibula and Nkosi Ndebele with the visitors' consolations.

In the Metcalfe Sports Challenge Cup, Churwell New Inn won 3-0 at Amaranth thanks to a Peter Jackson brace and Johnny Myers.

In the Jackson Trophies division, leaders Bainbridge United lost their 100 per cent record after going down 2-1 at Farnley Sports who move level on points with them in third place.

James Offlo and Mick Eagan for the hosts, who have the only 100 per cent record left in either division, Mark McCabe for United.

Second-placed Super Eagles also closed the gap with a 4-2 win at Skinners Arms who had Andrew Jackson and Otis Clark on target.

Chris Nock get two and Jamie Gibson the other as railway East Ardsley won 3-0 at Leeds Deaf, while Leodis kept in touch with the top four thanks to a 8-3 win at Middleton Park Reserves.
