Women's Football: Magnificent seven from Vixens sees off United

Guiseley Vixens thrashed Rotherham United 7-2 in the third qualifying round of the Women's FA Cup, with braces from Sarah Danby and Emily Scott, who was later carried off with an injury.

There were similar fortunes for Leeds LFC and Brighouse Town, with Jasmine Saxton’s brace helping Leeds thrash South Park Rangers 6-1, while goals from Charlotte Proud and Jodie Redgrave earned Brighouse a 2-1 win against Stockport County.

Farsley Celtic and Ossett Albion were not so lucky however, as the Celts suffered a 4-2 home loss to Merseyrail Bootle, while Nikki Swift scored Albion’s only goal in a heavy 7-1 defeat to Hartlepool United.

In the West Riding County Premier Division, league leaders Leeds Medic & Dentists made it four wins from four by beating Ossett Town 1sts 4-1. This was also the scoreline in two other games, as Brighouse Athletic 1sts dispatched winless Bradford Park Avenue 4-1, while Hemsworth gained a 4-1 win over struggling Battyeford Belles 1sts. It was a closer affair in the game between Silsden AFC and Hepworth United, where a second-half goal proved crucial for Hepworth, who won the game 2-1.

Farsley Celtic Reserves were dismantled 7-0 by Bradford City A in the West Riding First Division, with league leaders Yorkshire Amateur beating Brighouse Town Development 4-0 through a Lindsey Hopton brace. Promotion hopefuls Wetherby Athletic edged out Republica Internationale 3-2.

There were better fortunes for Farsley Celtic in the West Riding Second Divison however, as their Development squad crushed Silsden Development 8-1. Dewsbury Rangers also netted eight goals in their 8-2 win over Amaranth, while Crossley won two on the bounce by beating Boroughbridge 4-0. League leaders Skipton Town also kept their 100 per cent record intact, overcoming Clifton Rangers 3-1.

Ripon City Panthers maintained their unbeaten start in the West Riding Third Division, being pushed to a 4-3 win over Lower Hopton, with West Leeds enjoying a more comfortable 6-2 victory against Farsley Celtic A.
