Sunday Round-up: Cutsyke show six appeal as Railway are steamrollered

AFC Cutsyke continued their great run of form with a 6-3 victory at Railway Inn in the Castleford Sunday League’s First Division Cup.

Railway drew first blood through an early penalty but Cutsyke roared back to lead 5-1 at the interval.

Jordan Blackburn’s strike supplemented braces from Ash Bedworth and Gary MacLaren whose second strike came from the penalty spot.

Craig Maskill added a sixth with a header from a corner after the break before Railway managed two consolation goals with a free-kick and their second penalty.

In Castleford League matters, George & Dragon FC Pollington stayed top of Division One with an 8-2 success at home to George V.

Second-placed Upton Wrangbrook edged out visiting Chequers 5-4.

Eggborough are third after an 8-3 win at home to Eagle while AC Royal Oak bagged their first three-point haul of the season with a 4-1 triumph at third-bottom AFC Bass House.

In the only Heavy Woollen Sunday League game to take place, Mount Pleasant climbed to second place in the Championship after winning 6-1 against Hartshead.

Faheem Mira led the way with a hat trick, with Mohammed Patel, Adam Rawat and Adan Ali Ravat also contributing to the scoreline.

Lewis Heeley replied for Hartshead who remain rooted at the foot of the table.

Leeds YMCA were the day’s biggest winners in the Leeds Sunday Alliance Premier as they blitzed visiting Temple FC 13-0.

Leaders Gascoigne enjoyed a 2-0 win at home to Seacroft Colts Stallions while second-placed Commercial won 6-2 at Northern Star.

Halfway House Bramley moved third by going in 3-2 at Moortown Albion and jumping above Republica Internationale who lost 5-2 at Seacroft Colts.

The highlight of the weekend’s action in the Wharfedale Triangle League was a 3-2 success for new Premier Division leaders Ilkley Dynamo at title rivals Keighley Town who drop to second.

Elsewhere in Division two, Hampsthwaite beat visiting FC Harrogate 3-1 to leapfrog them into fifth.

In Division One, a Jake Fletcher hat-trick and Paul Scaife brace led Boroughbridge to a 6-0 win over Atlanta.

Third-placed Markington secured a 3-0 victory over Harrogate Cosmos while in Division Three Ryan Dawson scored a hat-trick to give Bramham reserves a 4-3 win over Markington Reserves.

Bramham’s James Lee also netted.
