HT Sports boss Lee Connor is taking nothing for granted ahead of tomorrow’s St George’s Day special West Riding FA County Sunday Cup final against Belle Isle WMC.

HT are chasing an amazing County Cup hat-trick and their fourth Woodlesford crown in total after recording a 2-0 victory in Friday night’s semi-final against St John Fisher. Steve Palfrey and Ben Small were both on target for Sports who also lead the Leeds Combination League but Connor is warning Belle Isle will prove dangerous opponents.

Connor warned: “Belle Isle beat us in the league so they will be confident and they had a great win in the semi (against Ferrybridge Progressive).”

Having been knocked out by Halton Moor, HT had to sit out last Tuesday night’s Leeds And District FA Sunday Senior Challenge Cup final between rivals Chapeltown Fforde Grene and Halton Moor at Throstle Nest which Fforde won 2-0. Both goals came from Joel Hughes.

Fforde reached the semis of the FA Sunday Cup this year before suffering defeat to Liverpool-based Campfield but will console themselves with a double if taking a point from their final league game next Tuesday – at Belle Isle – which would seal them a repeat Combination crown.

Leeds side Sky Bet FC also did the area proud by reaching the final of the West Riding FA County Sunday Trophy but that assignment proved a bridge just too far as holders Wellington Westgate recorded a 2-1 victory on Thursday. Sky Bet took a second-half lead through a stunning 30-yard free-kick from Mike Toney but Wellington levelled 15 minutes from time before breaking Sky Bet heart’s with a last-minute penalty.

Sky Bet gained compensation on Sunday when crowned Division One champions of the Wharfedale Triangle League.
