CORPUS CHRISTI were in ruthless form at Bramley Villagers FC in the Leeds Sunday Football League Championship this weekend, winning 7-1 to move within one point of league leaders Badri FC.
James Borril, Ian Bruce and Jonathan Meredith all scored twice for the visitors, with Gareth Haines also netting. Danny Robinson got Bramley’s only goal.
In the same division, West Leeds Wortley held Seacroft Reserves to a 2-2 draw at home; Geordie Rossendale and Mark Ferguson were on target for the hosts, while Seacroft’s Karl Smith bagged a double.
Meanwhile, in the Terry Pears Premier, KKS Zubry ran out 1-0 winners away at Harehills WMC thanks to a goal from Aiden Lewis. The home side have moved four points clear of Harehills in the table as a result.
There were also three fixtures in the Hope Cup, Western Juniors top Group A after a 5-0 home victory over New Farnley.
Danny Kennaghan scored a hat-trick, with Danny Walker and Aaron Spinks also getting on the scoresheet.
In Group B, East Leeds Celtic shared the points with Halfway House Stanningley after a 2-2 draw.
Gavin Frost and Matthew Allan scored for East Leeds, with David Allanson and Marcus Liburd netting for the visitors.
Finally, Group C saw East End Park overcome Richmond Hill FC 5-3 at home.
Paul Sykes got a brace for the victors, with Terry Tomlinson, Hayden Bowler and Lee Fowler getting the others. Marc Hitchins, Alfie Beeston and Ashley Hubbard scored for Richmond.
With most teams involved in District Cup ties last week, only a handful of matches took place in the Heavy Woollen Sunday League.
In the Championship, fifth place played fourth with Barr Street and Heckmondwike Sports Club sharing the spoils in a 2-2 draw. Steve Richards and Lewis Tolson netted for Barr Street, with Joe Jagger and Joe Armour replying for Heckmondwike.
Hartshead picked up their first points of the season, winning 5-2 at Birstall St Patricks. Doubles from Danny Laidlaw and Jack Allerton, plus an own goal, accounted for Hartshead’s tally, with Declan Dawson and Dan Stanley on target for Birstall.
Navigation are the new leaders in Division One after a Lee Bennett double, plus strikes from Bobby Campbell and Danny McKenzie saw them win 4-3 against Town Rangers, who replied through a Ross Hawkyard brace and a Scott Thornton effort.
Previous leaders Deighton WMC drop to third place after they lost 4-3 to Ravenswharfe, who jump to second. Lee Poskitt - with a double - Sam Hewitt and Jake Kilburn struck for Ravenswharfe, with Deighton replying through a Jamie Pearson brace, plus one from Paul Gledhill. Jack Rogerson and Tom Smith both fired hat-tricks in Birkenshaw Reserves’ 8-4 win at Bay Horse East Ardsley.
Will Gough and Luke Hird bagged the others, with Bay Horse replying through Mark Pickersgill, Craig Fairbarass, Karl Nightingale and Kyle Walker.
Matthew Evans hit both goals for Battyeford Reserves, but they went down 4-2 at Clifton Rangers.
In the only game played in Division Two, Clifton Rangers Reserves climbed to fourth place after two-goal Jonny Gault, Jordan Hoyle, Marcus Pope, Kyle Matthews and Joe Vickers all netted in a 6-2 win at bottom side Snowdon.
