WEST LEEDS WORTLEY will look to seal a brilliant double for boss Richard Moorby in this coming weekend’s Leeds Sunday Football League play-off final against Horsforth Fairweather at Otley Town (kick-off 1pm).

Wortley ensured they finished top of the new league with a 6-1 defeat of Horsforth the previous weekend. Jordan Webb, who finished top scorer of the regular league season, bagged a brace, supported by another double from Liam Copland plus a goal each from Mark Ferguson and Josh Summers.

Horsforth had scored after just two minutes through James Thorpe but were ultimately blown apart and had to settle for second place on the regular ladder.

But that still guaranteed a play-off semi-final clash against third-placed finishers West Leeds Armley and Horfsforth emerged 3-2 winners on Sunday. Jordan Tate and Nathan Chadwick were both on target for West Leeds Armley but a goal each from Kev Hoyle, Jamie Francis and Gary Litvinov booked Fairweather’s place in the final.

West Leeds Wortley will await after the top dogs sealed their place in the end-of-season finalé by beating fourth-placed finishers East Leeds 4-3.

West Leeds Armley boss Lisa Doherty beamed: “The Summer League has been a great success so credit to Richard Moorby and all of the refs and backroom staff for making sure all of the games proceeded as they should.”
