Brad Wood scored a hat-trick as Leeds Schools Under-11s thrashed visiting East Riding Schools Under-11s 7-1, writes Oliver Roby.
Leeds enjoyed a lively start and Brad Pride opened the scoring with a fine individual effort early on, slipping through the defence to hand the visitors a 1-0 lead.
They doubled their advantage shortly afterwards as substitute Wood scored with his first touch of the game, shooting low past the goalkeeper following Ben Littlewood’s through ball.
Wood soon had his second, taking advantage of the hosts’ stricken stopper to make it 3-0, but a converted penalty reduced the arrears.
However, Leeds found another gear thereafter, running in four further goals without reply to seal the points.
It was Redshaw, earlier penalised for handball which led to East Riding’s reply, who restored his side’s three-goal advantage, smashing home from a difficult angle before Jack Clarke netted inside a crowded penalty area after a succession of corners to bring up a four-goal lead.
Within minutes, Wood fed Pride for his second to make it 6-1 and Wood then rounded off an impressive afternoon for Leeds by sealing his hat-trick, Leeds’ first of the season, poking the ball home late on to complete the scoring.
