Horsforth St Margaret’s Juniors (Colts) Under-14s stormed into the second round of the Garforth Junior League District Cup with a 4-0 victory at home to a resilient Amaranth Juniors Under-14s team.

It took a smart move by Michael Wood to finally break the deadlock just before the break.

Horsforth stepped up the attack in the second half with Charlie Heath weaving through the defence before smashing the second past the keeper. Ollie Mangham picked off another screamer to make it 3-0 before Guy Davenport picked off the top corner from the penalty spot after Charlie Heath had been brought down.

Drighlington Juniors Under-14s A and B started the new season with good results with Drig A enjoying a 2-0 win at home to Shelley Under-14s in Division One of the Huddersfield League.

Jordan Broadbent and Ross Mchale were both on target for Drig whose defence was solid with Harry Wilkinson took the man of the match award on debut.

Drig B drew 3-3 at home to Shelf in Division Two. The game was end to end from the start and Drig took a two-goal lead with goals from Ben Boocock and Jason Whittaker.

Shelf drew level before half-time and just when it looked like Matthew Hazelwood had won it for Drig Shelf equalised with a Drig own goal. Noah Cage took the Drig man of the match award.

Wrenthorpe Rangers Under-14s maintained their 100 per cent start to the season with an 8-2 victory against visiting Garforth Villa in Division Two of the Garforth League.

Wrens goalscorers were Ewan Hallows with a hat-trick and Keshav Nair with a brace, supported by a goal each from Mason Spencer, player of the match Aaron Huxley and Danny Stokes – his first for the club.

Hall Green United Under-14s were eclipsed 3-2 by visiting Woodkirk Valley Under-14s in Divisions 5A and 5B of the Huddersfield League.

Green led through Aiden Teasdale’s first goal for the club but ultimately fell to a defeat despite Teasdale going on to bag a brace. Joshua Geary took the Green player of the match award with Adam Whaling taking the best attitude.

Brighouse Juniors Under-13s A moved second in Division 5A and 5B of the Huddersfield League with a 7-0 success at Westend Tigers Under-13s.

The thrilling game saw two hat-tricks and some excellent passing play from the visitors on West End’s artificial pitch.

Ben Brearley earned man of the match not just for his three goals but for a tireless performance.

Adam Swallow bagged a hat-trick in the first half, including a trademark powerful shot from a freekick. A goalmouth scramble, resulting in a goal by Luke Smith, completed the scoring. Goalie Jacob Bryan kept a clean sheet for Brighouse.

The visitors have had a confident start to the season with newcomers Sam Roberts and Dylan Mitchell fitting well into the team.

Hall Green United Under-13s drew a 5-5 cracker at Honely B Under-13s in Division 4B.

Green were 2-0 inside 20 minutes but pulled a goal back through Zak Burnside only to concede again and be 3-1 down at the break.

Dalton Jackson again reduced the arrears but United then fell two more goals behind only for Burnside to add his second, after which fine work down the left between Alex Tunningley and Josh Topp resulted in Topp’s fine cross being diverted as an own goal.

United kept building the pressure down the left with Tunningley eventually being brought down in the box, allowing Burnside to smash in the resulting penalty.

Hall Green United Under-11s B were in action at home to Brighouse Panthers Under-11s and celebrated a hat-trick for Alfie Callaghan plus a goal apiece for Owen Dack and man of the match Jack Copley, who completed the victory.
